Verdun Offensive

George Matthews Harding's charcoal and crayon drawing documents American soldiers during the Verdun offensive. Two standing soldiers support a wounded comrade on an improvised stretcher, his head and foot bandaged. Additional figures move toward an aid station across scarred terrain marked by barbed wire and shell-torn landscape.
