Hale House

Ernest C. Peixotto's architectural sketch captures a Colonial-era residence with characteristic period details: clapboard siding, brick chimney, and surrounding vegetation. The upper drawing presents the exterior facade with mature trees framing the structure, while the lower detail depicts an interior fireplace with its decorative overmantel and hearth. Peixotto (1869–1940), a San Francisco-born illustrator and muralist, was known for documentary drawings of American historical sites and interiors. This work exemplifies late-nineteenth-century antiquarian interest in preserving visual records of early American architecture before rapid modernization altered the landscape.
