Nude Study
Solon H. Borglum, born Ogden, UT 1868-died Stamford, CT 1922 · 1919

Solon H. Borglum, the sculptor and painter brother of Mount Rushmore's Gutzon Borglum, rendered this academic life study in ink and wash. The figure drawing demonstrates classical proportions and anatomical precision typical of early twentieth-century atelier training. Borglum worked across multiple media—sculpture, painting, illustration—contributing to the visual culture of his era through both fine art and commercial work. This study reflects the enduring influence of European academic methods on American artists of the period.
