10-Story Detective Magazine, April 1949

This April 1949 issue of *10-Story Detective* contains ten crime and detective stories. The featured novelet is H.Q. Masur's "The New Look in Shrouds," wherein private detective Steve Criqui breaks into a wealthy woman's apartment seeking information, only to be intercepted by the beautiful Miss Preisic, who propositions him to marry her for five thousand dollars. Other stories include Norman A. Daniels's "Free Wheeling to Hades," about a man faking his death; W. Lee Herrington's "My Money Says Murder," featuring ex-cop Lana Vincent; Carl Memling's "Conclave with Corpses," involving a woman contacting her dead husband; and Frank Taubes's "Encore in Black," where a songwriter composes his own funeral dirge. Additional tales feature detectives solving crimes, including Dan Gordon's "Copper on Crutches" and Louis J. Clark's "Invitation to the Morgue." Sam D. Cohen contributes a true crime feature, "The Face in the Mirror," and Joe Archibald provides a humorous story about detectives Hinkey and Noonan encountering murder victims.
