This document is an FBI report on unidentified flying object sightings in Philadelphia on August 6, 1947. Multiple independent observers reported a rapidly moving object between 10:30 and 10:45 p.m. An insurance agent and former B-24 pilot estimated the object's altitude at 1,000-6,000 feet, traveling northeast to southwest at 400-500 mph, emitting a bluish-white flame with a trailing smoke or condensation trail lasting approximately 2 seconds. A retired police officer described it as resembling a "giant firecracker" with a fiery trail visible for 100 feet. Another witness observed a white object traveling south with a grayish smoke trail. Investigators ruled out military aircraft and chemical plant fires, finding no definitive explanation. The report includes formal checklists for unidentified flying objects, analysis categories ranging from astronomical phenomena to balloons, and Dr. Hynek's evaluations classifying various incidents by probability and type of explanation.
