Museum Catalog Note
This document is not a pulp magazine but rather a U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations report dated May 1949 investigating alleged sightings of unidentified aerial objects near Sidney, Ohio in early May 1949. The report documents interviews with multiple civilian witnesses, including a jewelry store operator, a dairy deliveryman, and residents from Hopkinsville and Fort Jefferson areas. Witnesses reported observing bright, shiny silver disc-shaped objects ranging from 5 to 65 inches in diameter, traveling at high altitudes and fast speeds in directions primarily northward or northeast. Objects were described as wavering in flight, producing no sound or visible trail (with one exception noting a grayish trail), and remaining visible for approximately two minutes each. Sightings occurred under clear weather conditions with no aircraft reported in vicinity. No photographs were obtained.
