This document collection mixes military UFO reports with newspaper articles about aerial phenomena observed in the Memphis/Tennessee area during September 1950. The Air Force "Air Intelligence Information Report" documents pilot sightings of unidentified objects by Lieutenant James Haverty and Donald L. Soeffker of the 155 ANG Squadron, who pursued silver or egg-shaped craft above 40,000 feet; one pilot reported pursuing what appeared "a very large balloon" while another observed green and white lights moving at high speed northward. Separate newspaper clippings report a pilot attributing his sighting to weather balloons, and an extensive meteor account from September 28, 1950, describing a fireball explosion visible across multiple states, with fragments recovered by the Smithsonian Institution. The material includes discussion of meteor documentation by the American Meteoritic Society and technical accounts of various sightings by military and civilian witnesses.
