· October 1958

This document is not a pulp magazine, but rather official United States Air Force correspondence from 1958 regarding Project 10073 (later known as Project Blue Book), the Air Force's systematic investigation of unidentified flying objects. The records detail a UFO sighting reported on October 30, 1958, at approximately 2250 hours near Oblong, Illinois. Two witnesses at a Ground Observer Corps post observed one round, silver object with a dark center surrounded by six smaller solid silver discs in ring formation. Several smaller objects moved away in different directions, disappeared, then reappeared and regrouped before all objects faded. Observation lasted approximately ten minutes. Investigation by Air Force officers found no weather explanations, aircraft activity, or corroborating sources to identify the objects, and provided no alternative explanation for the sighting.
