This document is an Air Force UFO investigation report (Project 10073) recording a sighting near Danville, Virginia on June 24, 1959. The witness, a lifelong aviation enthusiast with three years of USAF experience and six years in the National Aeronautics Association, observed an airfoil-shaped object at dusk that appeared solid and real. His ten-year-old daughter first spotted it from the front yard. The object descended rapidly in a shallow dive without sound, seemed to push smoke and haze around it, and made a sharp right-angle turn—maneuvers the witness deemed inconsistent with known aircraft like the Air Force Thunderbirds or Navy Blue Angels. Most remarkably, the object broke into four distinct objects in perfect formation. The witness noted the hottest day of the year, slight haze visibility, no wind, and the object's apparent enormous size. No sound was detected throughout the sighting.
