This issue of *Adventure* (July 1916) contains primarily fiction in the adventure and commercial genres. The featured novel is J. Allan Dunn's "Beyond the Rim," a complete South Seas story involving pearl-hunting and maritime mystery. Beginning chapters present Chalmers, a young newspaperman in Honolulu, investigating a shipwreck salvage operation. When he visits a dying Solomon Islander named Taroi at Sayers's home in Aloha Alley, the man presses a pink pearl into his hand before expiring, mysteriously indicating it is not for Sayers. Fullerton's "Cassidy's Consolation Kick" (ice fishing on Lake Michigan); "The Education of Billy Stream" by Frederick William Wallace (Newfoundland fishing markets); and "To Crack a Safe" by Terence and Patrick Casey (California hobo narrative). Additional pieces address tramp life, salesmanship, voodoo practices in Haiti, and the historical figure Wild Bill Hickok.
