Adventure Magazine, May 3, 1921
This May 1922 Adventure magazine issue contains five complete stories and serials across multiple genres. Norman Springer's "Bedlam on the Sea Witch" follows donkeyman Billy Murray aboard the decrepit tramp steamer Sea Witch, bound for Vladivostok with rice and weapons during the Russian Civil War. After accidents claim the ship's carpenter and fourth engineer, Murray assumes engineering duties managing the incompetent coolie crew. Arthur O. Friel contributes "The Trumpeter," an adventure set in Brazilian jungles. Hugh Pendexter's "The Torch-Bearers" is a revolutionary-era serial about Marion's men. Chester L. Saxby presents "The Pot of Gold," concerning prospectors defending mining claims. Talbot Mundy concludes his five-part serial "Guns of the Gods," featuring machinery of destiny and doom in Sialpore. Additional content includes poetry, an O. Henry advertisement offering free volumes, and educational advertisements for music and vocational instruction.
