Amazing Stories, July 1962

Catalog Note This issue of *Amazing Stories* (July 1962, Vol. 36, No. 7) features the first installment of Keith Laumer's three-part serial "A Trace of Memory," the primary fiction offering. The narrative opens with an amnesiac protagonist awakening aboard a far-voyager ship to find seven corpses and pursuing Hunter drones. Fleeing in a shuttle, he crash-lands on a forested planet where locals, described as squat and bearded in beast-hides, seize the craft. The serial then shifts to "Chapter 1," establishing the protagonist as a drifter planning to rob a small-town cigar store before being interrupted by a mysterious black sedan. Also included: a reprint novelet by G. Peyton Wertenbaker titled "The Chamber of Life"; short stories including "The Blonde from Barsoom" by Robert F. Young and "A Prison Make" by William W.
