The American Elite and Sociologist Blue Book (1922)
A biographical directory compiled by Thomas William Herring Shaw, containing profiles of approximately six thousand prominent American business leaders, professionals, and civic figures. Each entry provides basic biographical data—birth dates, education, professional affiliations, corporate positions, club memberships, and family information—for individuals identified as influential in industrial, financial, and social development.
Featured entries include civil engineer Ray W. Berdeau (Manila); educator Charles Edward Brewer, president of Meredith College; Martha McChesney Berry, founder of the Berry Schools for mountain youths in Georgia; lawyer Paul D. Cravath of New York; and investment banker Percy Milton Chandler of Philadelphia. The volume documents the networks of social clubs, business corporations, and professional organizations that connected America's business elite during the early twentieth century.
