This March 1914 issue of The Argosy contains one complete novel and two novelettes. "Mesquite Ranch" by Katharine Eggleston is a tale spanning New York and the Southwest mining/ranching country, featuring ordinary characters embroiled in mystery and romance. "Sailing with Morgan" by George Brydges Rodney is a forty-thousand-word sea adventure depicting pirate Morgan's exploits on the Spanish Main, including the sack of Porto Bello and capture of the plate-fleet. "Desert Loot" by Jim Fellom is a seventeen-thousand-word Western novelette. Six short stories round out the issue: George Washington Ogden's "Big Buffalo's Last Battle" (Indian story), John Moran's "In the Flag-Ship's Stokehold" (naval fiction depicting battle-ship crew), Frederick Simpich's "The Presidente's Reward" (Philippine setting), plus three additional stories. The magazine also includes "The Log-Book," a reader-chat column, and a watch-charm novel excerpt.
