The Argosy, Vol. 51, No. 4 (April 1891) This issue of *The Argosy*, edited by Charles W. Wood, contains multiple serials and stories. Platzoff concerning a valuable diamond but finds the cryptogram ends before revealing its hiding-place. Frustrated, Ducie searches Bon Repos for clues while harboring a desire to steal the gem. The chapter "Drashkil-Smoking" depicts Platzoff introducing Captain Ducie to his opium-derived drug preparation, recounting his vivid visions—including one where he became an Indian fakir with fused hands, revered as holy.
