Catalog Note: The Argosy, Volume XXXVI (July-December 1883) This issue of The Argosy, edited by Mrs. Henry Wood, contains serialized fiction and shorter pieces. The primary serial is "Winifred Power" by Joyce Darrell, illustrated by M. Ellen Edwards, tracking the marriage of Sir John Hatherley to the former governess Gertrude Dallas. The narrative examines the scandal her engagement provokes among local society at Elmsleigh, particularly through the resistance of Mrs. Hatherley and her daughter Flossie.
