Museum Catalog Description *The Argosy*, Volume 42 (July-December 1886), edited by Mrs. Henry Wood, contains a serialized novel *Lady Valeria* by A. Moberly in forty-seven chapters, alongside numerous shorter stories and poems. The featured serial involves characters Edric, Elsie, and Euphrosyne in an intricate plot involving warnings and danger; in the excerpt shown, Elsie urgently implores Edric to leave his regiment, claiming a prophetic dream revealed his death within seven days if he remains. Other major contents include *Under Northern Skies* by Charles W. Wood; *In a House-Boat* by Minnie Douglas; *Millicent's Folly* credited to the author of *East Lynne*; and *On Trial* by the author of *Molly Bawn*. Shorter works range from naturalistic pieces like "Shrimps and Prawns" by Rev. J. G. Wood to fiction stories such as "Faithful unto Death," a true account of Irish Troubles. Poetry contributors include E. Nesbit and Isabella Fyvie Mayo. Illustrated throughout by M. L. Gow and other artists.
