Aventuras de Jim Texas: La Emboscada

This Spanish-language serial adventure opens in Austin, Texas, where Jim Texas and his Mexican companion Niño Mendoza, recovering from previous exploits at the Hotel California, read a newspaper account of financier Claudio Spack's death. Jim suspects foul play and that Spack's daughter Vera and secretary Zenker orchestrated the accident to conceal murder. When Vera returns to Washington and retires to modest living, Jim plans to investigate her inheritance claims. Governor Stanley then assigns Jim a dangerous federal mission: transporting half a million dollars in gold from San Antonio Bank to Austin Bank. To deceive potential bandits, the plan involves two decoy diligences—one carrying stone-filled boxes to attract outlaws, while the genuine gold shipment travels undetected via remote routes. The Governor emphasizes the region's infestation with pistoleros and criminal networks, making the operation extraordinarily perilous. Jim accepts the assignment despite reservations.
