· 1895

This publication by Legg Brothers contains sheet music selections copyright 1895. The featured title piece, "In the Shadow of the Pines," features words by Hattie Lummis and music by O. Cans, reprinted from Godey's Magazine. The narrative lyrics describe a romantic separation: a couple walks in pine woods; the woman accepts a ring but parts coldly; the speaker suffers heartbreak and calls for reconciliation. The accompanying musical notation indicates three key versions (high, medium, low). Additional sheet music selections advertised include "The Ethel May Schottische" by Eugend Ellsworth, "Dreams of Old Kentucky" by G.O. Lang, "Daffodils Valse" by M.O. Wheeler, and "Ben Bolt" by G.O. Lang, each priced at 30–60 cents.
