The two form a partnership with strict terms: Jim demands absolute freedom from questions and strict obedience from Harry regarding future business of unknown nature, promising potential profit. By story's end they reach Hicks's Hurrah where Harry enthusiastically endorses his rescuer to local miners as an exceptional gunfighter.
