Don Banton, the Gent from Denver

Don Danton, the Gent from Denver; or, The Kick-up at Kickapoo By King Keene (U.S. Secret Service Corps), this detective serial follows the arrival of the celebrated operative "Delicate Don" Danton at the mining camp of Kickapoo. Traveling by stage from Wainwright, Danton mingles with ordinary miners and assayists while generously distributing fine cigars. When revealed as the famous crime-solver, he explains he has come to claim the Little Sweetheart mine, inherited through power of attorney from the recently deceased owner Job Letson. Danton engages miner Tom Trump as assistant superintendent, planning to manage the property for Letson's daughter Lamia and protect their shared interests against the current manager Woolfe Nathan. The narrative establishes Kickapoo as a prosperous silver-mining camp with multiple working mines and growing commercial infrastructure, positioning Danton to navigate competing claims and local tensions surrounding the valuable property.
