This issue of the Boys' Library contains two serialized adventure stories. "The Sea Scouts of Seventy-Six" by Col. Prentiss Ingraham opens with the disappearance of the king's treasure ship Wind Witch (called "The Silver Ship"), sent to retrieve pirate Morgan's Caribbean silver. When spotted by a British cruiser off New York, the ship is observed to be crewed entirely by skeletons. In Chapter II, buccaneer Captain Belmont discovers a wrecked Mexican barque, El Cinto de Acero, laden with silver pesos and dead crew, salvaging the cargo despite an approaching storm. Chapter III introduces a solitary hermit on a Caribbean island awaiting an approaching vessel. The stories emphasize naval action, treasure-seeking, piracy, and the supernatural, typical of period pulp adventure fiction.
