Millions on the Turn Beadle & Adams pulp serial by W. R. Eyster, published November 14, 1888. "Fresh Frank, the Derringer Daisy" is an adventure tale set in the American West featuring the protagonist Frank Foxton, a charming, music-loving drifter known for his quick draw. While traveling, Foxton hears gunshots and rushes toward them, only to find a band of masked outlaws—the Black Eagles—robbing an ambulance and holding a young woman captive. After engaging the gang in gunplay and demonstrating his derringer expertise, Foxton is captured. The gang's leader recognizes him as a wanted man with a price on his head. The young woman pleads for his life, but the captain demands five thousand dollars for his release. The excerpt ends as her pleas go unheeded and Foxton faces execution.
