Catalog Description *The Vendetta of Hate*, by Albert W. Aiken, serially published in this December 1888 issue of *Beadle and Adams* (ten cents). The story concerns Jackson Blake, known in New York society as "Jack Escobedo," a wealthy man from the West who has recently come East to breed racehorses. At Sheepshead Bay racetrack, Blake participates in a ten-thousand-dollar match race between his mare Kentucky Princess and Clinton Van Frelinghuysen's gray horse Commander. Among spectators, a banker's daughter recognizes Blake, suggesting prior acquaintance.
