Buffalo Bill's Block Game

"Buffalo Bill's Block Game; or, Rounding-Up the Mounted Miner of the Overland" by Colonel Prentiss Ingraham. The serial follows Buffalo Bill's capture of an outlaw gang led by the desperado Bob Brass. Brass and an associate recruit nearly a dozen hardened criminals to form the "League of Mounted Gold Miners," requiring each to sign a Death Roll—a ceremonial pledge to rob stages and gold trains. When two men refuse to sign, Brass executes them. Buffalo Bill intervenes from atop a cliff, using his lasso to strangle Brass into submission, then resuscitates him. After disarming and binding the gang with lassos, Bill questions Brass and determines to take all prisoners to justice. Bill's strategic deception—calling out orders to unseen men on the cliff—prevents the bound outlaws from attempting escape. The narrative emphasizes Bill's tactical cunning, marksmanship, and physical prowess against superior numbers.
