This issue of *Beadle and Adams Weekly* (Vol. 27, No. 98, published November 3, 1886) features "Nobby Nick of Nevada: The Scamps of the Sierras" by Edward L. They discuss threats from "Grim Goblin," a mysterious avenger eliminating gang members, and receive a warning about the arrival of General Arlington (wealthy, vulnerable to forgery), the vigilante "Nobby Nick," and a government spy. The narrative shifts to follow Nobby Nick himself, a jovial adventurer riding a clever donkey named Doxy through the snowy gulch. Nick intervenes in an attack on an elderly Indian called Stern Face, routing the white assailants with help from his resourceful donkey before introducing himself and heading toward Deviltry.
