The Buckskin Rider

This is Beadle and Adams' Dime Novel #461, November 1892, featuring "The Buckskin Rider; or, The White Scourge" by Guy Greenwood. The Western adventure begins as Buckskin Bill, a frontier scout in a canoe, observes three Blackfeet warriors on the prairie stalking white settlers. Responding to this threat, Bill intervenes when the Indians attack a lone horseman named Clinton Aubrey, who commands an expedition to the Oregon River. After Bill kills two attackers and wounds a third, the two men ride toward the foothills pursued by a larger Blackfoot band. They reach a defensible canyon pass where they hold off the Indians. The Blackfoot chief Blackbird approaches under a flag of truce, dishonestly claiming his warriors were merely being friendly before the whites attacked them. Blackbird demands Clinton's repeating pistols.
