When Grant learns that Confederate generals Van Dorn and Price plan a joint attack on Corinth, he summons Clark for a crucial mission whose success will determine the army's safety. The scout Farwell brings warning of enemy movements. The bulk of the issue comprises a catalog of self-help and instruction books available from the publisher, covering mesmerism, palmistry, hunting, magic tricks, athletics, fortune-telling, letter-writing, and mechanical engineering.
