The Gibraltar Blue Book for 1938
This is an official government statistical and administrative document rather than a narrative publication. The Gibraltar Blue Book for 1938 is a comprehensive registry of colonial governmental operations, containing thirty-five numbered sections detailing taxation structures, revenue and expenditure accounts, legislation, personnel rosters, civil statistics, and infrastructure management. The volume includes detailed schedules of import duties on wines, spirits, tobacco, and motor fuel; licensing fees for commercial enterprises; stamp duties; and port charges. Sections address public debt, municipal authorities, public works projects, ecclesiastical records, educational establishments, vital statistics on population, labor conditions, criminal justice proceedings, hospital and mental health services, postal and telegraph operations, shipping and harbor administration, and meteorological observations. The work serves as an administrative archive documenting Gibraltar's governance during the late colonial period.
