En el Umbral del Averno by Ada Coretti This Spanish-language horror/mystery serial follows Andrew Corwers, a wealthy young adventurer who arrives at the remote indigenous settlement of Sattaka to visit Dr. Griffin, a scientist conducting controversial biological experiments involving animal-to-human blood transfusions. Upon arrival at night, Corwers discovers a black man hanging from a tree, tortured with porcupine quills pierced through his tongue—a method causing paralysis and fatal infection. The dying man gives Corwers a photograph of a white woman before expiring. Corwers then finds Dr. Griffin dead in an open coffin, killed weeks earlier by leopards. He meets Ronald Prince (Griffin's assistant), journalist Johnny Hodsson, painter Billy Reagar, and engineer Alan Hope—the only white men in the region—along with Coleen, Griffin's beautiful niece. The narrative establishes mystery and psychological tension, with Prince cryptically observing that all the men are in love with Coleen, suggesting potential motives for the murdered black man's death.
