Las morbosas
Catalog Description *Las Morbosas* (The Morbid Ones), issue 280 of the Selección Terror collection (July 1978), features a single novel by Curtis Garland. The narrative unfolds at an exclusive island resort (Cayo Tortuga) owned by wealthy Alan Larkin, where two unhappily married women—Sybil Larkin and Amy—lounge by the swimming pool discussing their marital discontent. During their conversation, Sybil playfully proposes a murder scheme: killing both their husbands to solve their respective domestic problems, with Amy receiving half of Sybil's inheritance in exchange. The scene shifts to introduce other guests: Marko Rizzoli, an attractive playboy, and his lover Hazel Roberts, an actress enjoying Sybil's hospitality. Rizzoli privately suspects Sybil of ruthless intentions and entertains thoughts of seducing her. Meanwhile, estate administrator Stella Parsons witnesses a motorboat capsizing offshore, its occupant swimming toward the island. The narrative establishes an atmosphere of temptation, infidelity, and potential violence within an ostensibly glamorous seaside setting.
