Clark Carrados: Noches negras

Museum Catalog Note *Noches Negras* (Black Nights), by Clark Carrados, is a mystery-horror serial published by Editorial Bruguera in June 1980. The story follows Victor Shaddox, a lost motorist who becomes trapped in fog and mistakenly enters a remote estate through an automated steel gate. The household staff and assembled guests insist he is "Jordan," a master of disguise, despite his protestations. Shaddox learns he is one of six beneficiaries summoned to hear the will of the deceased Sir Roderick Farnstoke. The testament, read by mayordomo Jonathan, stipulates that each heir must spend an entire night in "the Black Chamber"—a room devoid of light, timepieces, or any illumination source—to claim their inheritance of one hundred thousand pounds sterling. Refusing forfeits the bequest. The excerpt concludes as Jonathan begins detailing these mysterious conditions to the assembled heirs: Flora Hicks, Belle, Don Awes, Nellie St. Vrain, Aníbal Cluthings, and Durban Scrooge.
