Selección Terror: El Bebedizo Infernal
This Spanish-language pulp magazine installment presents a crime and adventure narrative titled with terror elements. The story follows Keith Murphy, a Manhattan private investigator hired to protect a group of wealthy young American tourists on safari in Kenya. Murphy accompanies the spoiled contingent, including Ralph Weathers and eighteen-year-old Sharon Down, daughter of a New York glass magnate. The narrative opens during a controversial scene in a Maasai village where the tourists witness—and photograph—the ritual circumcision and infibulation of a fourteen-year-old girl, a ceremony staged by safari guide Kalim Shalam for payment. Murphy, morally conflicted, withdraws to his cabin with whisky. Sharon Down subsequently attempts to seduce him; Murphy rebuffs her advances and strikes her when she becomes abusive. As the group prepares to depart for a hunting expedition, an unexplained eclipse begins, causing the villagers to flee—interpreted as an ill omen by guide Shalam.
