"El tesoro diabólico" by Ada Coretti
This Spanish-language horror serial, part of the *Bolsilibros: Selección Terror* pulp series, concerns Roger Taube, summoned to aid his father's troubled friend Peter Molkan, who writes of experiencing inexplicable nocturnal phenomena: falling asleep yet remaining conscious, traveling nightly to a grotto containing a fabulous treasure that vanishes upon waking. Molkan fears premeditated, calculated death lurks within his isolated house north of Carlisle.
Roger discovers a dark history: a beautiful woman, rejected by a former resident decades prior, descended into madness and was institutionalized, vowing revenge. She has recently been released. A mysterious cold-eyed man named Donald Sullivan befriends Roger en route, revealing Molkan's three daughters—the formidable elder sisters Bárbara and Carolina, and young Connie. A forest attack graphically depicts an unknown hooded figure mutilating a gamekeeper's tongue with a rake. Roger arrives at the decaying estate as Peter begins confessing the harrowing truth.
