Catalog Note
This Spanish-language pulp fiction issue features "Última noche en Singapore" (Last Night in Singapore) by Lou Carrigan, a spy/thriller narrative set in Monte Carlo. The story concerns Armand De Vries and Demetrios Karakis, two operatives awaiting colleague Henry Schafer at the Hotel Lis. When Schafer fails to arrive, they prepare to flee. A striking woman with blue eyes enters the hotel, makes a telephone call, and is revealed to be Greta Schafer, Henry's wife. She systematically identifies both men through a deceptive phone call scheme, then methodically executes Karakis with a concealed dagger while he waits in the car. She forces De Vries to drive toward Nice under gunpoint, revealing her true identity and claiming Henry is dead—suggesting De Vries and Karakis were complicit in his death. The narrative emphasizes calculated violence, espionage tradecraft, and mounting tension as De Vries attempts to convince Greta of his innocence while driving under her armed surveillance.
