Si eres espía, estás muerto
· 1975

A Spanish-language pulp cover featuring a woman in a tropical setting rendered in warm golden tones. The composition—a seminude figure posed against flowering vegetation—echoes the adventure and exotic-locale formulas of mid-century men's magazines and their European counterparts. The cover line announces a spy-thriller narrative ("If you're a spy, you're dead"), while the butterfly tattoo and theatrical makeup signal the pulp tradition of visual shorthand for danger and intrigue. By the 1970s, these magazines had largely ceded their market dominance to comics, though they persisted in regional and international editions, maintaining their reliance on painted covers and genre-coded imagery to signal adventure, mystery, and risk.
