This Spanish-language pulp novel from Editorial Bruguera (1978) features Brigitte Montfort, alias "Baby," a renowned international spy. The story opens in her Fifth Avenue apartment in New York, where she relaxes with colleagues Frank Minello (a photographer) and Charles Alan Pitzer (CIA chief for New York sector) after completing a magazine assignment covering Spanish royalty. Their conversation is interrupted by Cirilo Baena, a small, dark-eyed man sent by Nathan, president of San Nataniel and an old friend of Brigitte's. Baena delivers a letter requesting Brigitte investigate scientist Olaf Olaffsen, an energy researcher who disappeared two years ago while working in San Nataniel and has now purchased passage to the United States, arriving in Corpus Christi, Texas on flight 089. Nathan fears Olaffsen's scientific work may have significant consequences for his country. Brigitte agrees to the task, burning the letter to maintain discretion.
