Brigitte en Acción

This Spanish-language pulp magazine issue contains two interconnected spy stories by Lou Carrigan. "Preludio en Roma" (Rome Prelude) opens with Enrico, chief assistant to the operative known as "Número Uno," conducting a currency exchange near Rome's Tiber River—$250,000 in American bills for a small package. After the exchange with two men, Enrico is shot in the back and, wounded and pursued, stumbles into the river. The main narrative, "Brigitte en acción" (Brigitte in Action), shifts to Malta where Brigitte Montfort, a famous periodista and CIA operative codenamed "Baby," and Número Uno (publicly Angelo Tomasini, an Italian businessman) enjoy a romantic respite at Villa Tartaruga. Their intimate vacation is interrupted when a carrier pigeon arrives from Rome bearing urgent news, suggesting the shooting of Enrico has triggered a new espionage crisis requiring their intervention.
