Forster receives false identity papers and new clothing, then contacts Pitk Irsten, a ship's purser who arranges his passage aboard the *Stivia*. Colonel Wedda, the brutal security officer pursuing Forster, intercepts Lutta's communication with Irsten and kills her with a vibrator weapon before she can warn of potential exposure.
