Seísmo cósmico

When Max Weiss, Mehler's stern associate, demands her father perform the surgery instead, Nadia asserts her competence. During the delicate brain tumor operation, three successive seismic tremors strike—an impossible occurrence in a non-seismic region. The first earthquake causes Nadia's scalpel to slip, fatally damaging Mehler's brain tissue; he dies on the operating table. Communications worldwide begin failing. Weiss learns the earthquakes registered even on lunar bases, suggesting a catastrophic global phenomenon. Nadia's father is unreachable in New York, where reports indicate severe damage.
