Operación Satélite

"Operation Satellite," translated by F. Cazorla, features a science fiction narrative set in Manchester, England. Professor Henry Kelland, an elderly scientist working on the Manned Satellite project, narrowly escapes an assassination attempt by hit-and-run vehicle. Thomas Bryant, a rocket motor technician from Westlake, saves Kelland's life and accompanies him home. At Kelland's apartment, assisted by his servant Wetherby, Bryant reveals his identity through work credentials. Kelland suspects the Anti-Space League—an organization opposing Britain's manned space program for political reasons—orchestrated the attack. Bryant, who failed selection as the third crew member (alongside Commander Maddocks and Doctor Lloyd, with Arnold Bailey chosen instead), seeks confidential explanation for his rejection. Kelland recalls the rigorous selection process involving pressure chamber tests and mathematics examinations where Bailey outperformed Bryant.
