Complete Cowboy, Vol. 3, No. 2
Complete Cowboy, Vol. 3, No. 2 (October 1941) This issue features Western fiction across three pieces. The primary offering is "Outlaw Guns" by Mat Rand, a book-length novel presenting itself as historical fiction centered on Billy the Kid, described as perhaps the deadliest gunman in Western history. "Draw or Die," a short novel by T. W. Ford, follows young Tuss Sloan, whose father is killed by an arrow; seeking retribution, Sloan is branded an outlaw and forced onto "the Gunshot Road" with deadly intent toward lawmen. Kenneth P. Wood's short story "Law West of the Pecos" dramatizes Judge Roy Bean during the era when frontier justice resided in holsters. The issue is supplemented by advertisements for vocational training programs in radio operation, family life insurance, talismanic charms and amulets, and medical treatments.
