Museum Catalog Entry "La muerte elige" (Death Chooses), by Donald Curtis, is a detective mystery serialized in this pulp magazine. He receives a cryptic warning letter from the Benson Detective Agency in Los Angeles alerting him that unknown parties are inquiring about him with unclear intentions. Shortly after, he receives a telegram from Christopher Jagger of the *Daily Star* in Longville, California, urging him to travel west immediately for an advantageous opportunity. Martin travels to Longville and meets Jagger, the editor of the newspaper supporting local fiscal candidate Thomas Sturgess in a contested election against rival Forrest Cronyn. The narrative involves local political intrigue and electoral corruption, with hints of darker conspiracies emerging as Martin investigates the mysterious circumstances surrounding his unexpected summons.
