Lucky Marty: La gran jugada
"La Gran Jugada" (The Big Play) *Colección Doble Juego* No. 16, Spanish-language sports fiction serial. The narrative follows Ugo Rocco, a twenty-year-old farmworker from Taormina, Sicily, who is thrust into his first match as a striker for the local football club during a crucial provincial championship game. The team is losing 0–3 to Caltanissetta after injuries disable two key players. Coach Luchio Adessio reluctantly sends Rocco in as a replacement despite doubting his offensive abilities, having previously used him only as a defender. Rocco struggles initially in the advanced position, unable to touch the ball as his team is overwhelmed on defense, then humiliated when called offside twice. Flashbacks reveal his impoverished rural background and lifelong passion for football as his only path to athletic glory and national representation. The story emphasizes his determination to prove himself despite self-doubt.
