BEWARE! TERROR TALES, July 1928, No. 2 This pulp horror issue contains multiple supernatural stories. "Eerie Footsteps in the Red Snow" features a narrator pursuing mysterious footprints across a snowy mountain peak, discovering phantom figures of the undead who lured him there to torment him before death. "Fiend of Fire" follows Harlow Maxon, a gambler who murders his creditor John Begget by planting a thermite bomb in his car, then is haunted by Begget's fire-spirit manifestation. The ghost attacks through matches, gas flames, and fireplaces, forcing Maxon into an ongoing battle. He evades it by avoiding all flames, but ultimately succumbs when the spirit possesses his fever—a supernatural "fire" consuming him from within. "The Lunk" presents an author whose fictional monster becomes real, escaping from his manuscript into life. The creature pursues him relentlessly, and he flees to his country home to destroy the final manuscript chapter. "Joshua Sprague's School" depicts a young man stranded at an ancient schoolhouse who discovers a parchment record dating to the mid-eighteenth century, then becomes possessed by an impulse to control the schoolhouse itself through sorcery.
