Fred Fearnot Among the Gold Miners
· February 10, 1905

This issue of *Frank Tousey's* periodical from February 10, 1905 contains two distinct sections: a catalog of how-to instructional booklets and serialized fiction. The main story, "Fred Fearnot Among the Gold Miners: The Fight for a Stolen Claim" by Hal Standish, begins with Chapter I, "The Riot on the Ice." Fred Fearnot and Terry Olcott visit Fredonia for the holidays, where they court local girls Evelyn and Mary. The opening depicts their charitable efforts at an orphans' home Christmas celebration, where they and the girls distribute abundant candies and treats, with humorous consequences. The fiction content is adventure-oriented. The catalog advertises numerous instructional books covering mesmerism, palmistry, hypnotism, hunting, boating, fortune-telling, athletics, boxing, magic tricks, mechanics, and letter-writing, priced at ten cents each or three for twenty-five cents.
