Fred pays her bill and later receives reimbursement and gratitude from the society woman. The narrative then shifts to reconnecting with Bill Clark, an ex-clown operating a museum side-show, who warmly welcomes the protagonists. The story emphasizes Fred's gentlemanly character and social prominence throughout.
