Museum Catalog Note
This Spanish-language pulp magazine, *Colección ¡KIAI!* no. 37 (September 1977), contains "Un Placer a Su Alcance" by Ralph Barby, a crime thriller centered on an illegal drug transaction. The story opens with Kink Yoke, an Oriental-American syndicate operative, stationed on a luxury yacht off San Francisco Bay in dense fog. Yoke orchestrates a rendezvous with an independent dealer named Clayton, exchanging five million dollars (actually counterfeit bills with a real hundred-thousand-dollar layer) for ten cases of narcotics. A Japanese diver, Miyajima, plants a magnetic bomb on Clayton's speedboat, which detonates once the vessel reaches thirty knots, killing Clayton and his crew. The drug shipment is then transferred to an underwater electric vehicle for retrieval by associates on shore. The narrative emphasizes criminal methodology, international smuggling operations, and syndicate organization.
