This volume of Munsey's Magazine (April-September 1896) contains illustrated articles on contemporary subjects and biographical profiles: "Modern Religious Painting" examining contemporary artistic interpretations of biblical scenes; features on prominent figures including Senator Joseph Benson Foraker, lawyer Joseph H. Choate, and Leo Tolstoy; and articles on women's roles including "Women on Horseback" and "In a Girls' Gymnasium." The serial "A Private Chivalry" by Francis Lynde continues across multiple chapters. Numerous short stories appear throughout, including "The Unmaking of an Actor" by Anna McClure Sholl and "David All Over" by Juliet W. Tompkins. Poetry contributors include Frank D. Sherman and Charles G. D. Roberts. Regular departments cover The Stage, Literary Chat, and artists' work. Illustrations and portraits accompany most features.
