Nash's Pall Mall Magazine, July 1931
Nash's—Pall Mall for July 1931 features fiction by established literary names: Sinclair Lewis's "Go East, Young Man," Eugene Zamyatin's "The Turning of Another Worm," Susan Ertz's "You Got to Live," W. Townend's "Finest Sport in the World," and others. Aldous Huxley contributes an essay, "The Victory of Art over Humanity," while Vera Brittain and St. John Ervine appear among the non-fiction writers. Two serials run: J.S. Fletcher's "The Case for the Defence" and Rafael Sabatini's "The Kingmaker." Editor Tom Clarke's lead article, "Shall We Lose Another Continent?," examines contemporary British-Indian relations and constitutional negotiations, reflecting on whether democratic Britain will repeat the mistakes that led to American independence. The magazine also includes articles on citizenship, yachting, automotive manufacturing, and memoirs, plus Peggy Wood's humorous column.
